The Olmstead Now Pledge:
The Supreme Court Olmstead decision requires States to place qualified individuals in community settings, rather than in institutions, whenever treatment professionals determine that such placement is appropriate, the affected persons do not oppose such placement, and the State can reasonably accommodate the placement, taking into account the resources available to the State and the needs of others with disabilities.
I pledge to support California quickly implementing prudent, cost efficient Omstead measures that will stop the low income frail/disabled from being forced into skilled nursing homes.
I pledge to support Olmstead measures for the low income frail/disabled wtih 24 hour custodial care needs who would like to use their medi-cal dollars to receive care at home in or in community based care settings, such as residential board and care homes.
I pledge to support Olmstead measures for seniors currently residing in RCFEs, at risk of premature institutionalization, who like to age in place once they run out of money.
I pledge to support the goals of the Olmstead Now Campaign.
By taking the pledge:
We will add your name to our on-line petition and keep you informed as to the latest Olmstead reform measures in California.
